We compared the regular prices of 1,516 Massimo Dutti items sold in both Spain and the US. Spanish prices come from Massimo Dutti’s own website (checked on 6 October 2026), US prices from Zara’s US website, which sells Massimo Dutti. Every item was at least 15% cheaper in Spain for someone who lives in the US, after sales tax at home and the tax refund. The typical (median) saving was 59%.
Spain and Portugal print the same euro prices. Portugal’s refund is bigger (23% VAT against Spain’s 21%) but only from €61.50 on one receipt, so above that Portugal edges ahead; below it, Spain wins.

Finding the code
The tag reads like 5914/593/600: the model, the quality and the colour. Zara uses the same format, so the app checks both brands.
The tax refund in Spain
- Spanish prices include 21% VAT. If you live outside the EU, you can claim it back.
- Spain has no minimum spend, so even one T-shirt qualifies. Ask for a tax-free form at the till and show your passport.
- Before you check your bags, scan each form at a DIVA kiosk at the Spanish airport or port. Leaving the EU from another country? Take a printed copy.
- Take the goods out of the EU within 3 months of buying.
- Refund companies keep a fee. We assume you get about three quarters of the tax back, roughly 13% of the price on the tag.
EU residents can’t claim the refund anywhere in the EU. UK residents can, since 2021.
