We compared the regular prices of 1,701 Miu Miu styles on Miu Miu’s own websites in all 11 of our countries in October 2026, matched by the model code. For US shoppers, every style sold in both Italy and the US was at least 15% cheaper in Italy after the tax refund. The typical (median) saving was 35%.
Every euro country prints the same price, so the refund decides: Portugal comes out about a point ahead (its refund is the biggest), then Italy, Spain, France and Germany, all within two points. Outside Europe, Japan is about a quarter cheaper for US shoppers.

The tax refund in Italy
- Italian prices include 22% VAT. If you live outside the EU, you can claim it back.
- You need to spend more than €70 on one invoice. Ask for a tax-free form at the till and show your passport.
- Before you check your bags, take the goods, invoices and passport to customs (or the refund company’s desk) for the digital stamp.
- Take the goods out of the EU by the end of the third month after the invoice.
- Refund companies keep a fee. We assume you get about three quarters of the tax back, roughly 13.5% of the price on the tag.
EU residents can’t claim the refund anywhere in the EU. UK residents can, since 2021.
Shopping in Paris instead? France’s minimum is €100.01 in one shop on one day, and its refund is a little smaller (20% VAT).
